Yayoi Kusama – Exhibition Poster

This poster was designed for a fictional solo exhibition of Yayoi Kusama at Kunsthaus Zürich. The concept focuses on one of her most recognisable features: her bright red hair. Rather than leaning into her well-known polka dots, I chose to reduce the visual language to a bold, minimal portrait that immediately evokes her presence.

 

The composition aims to reflect Kusama’s strong sense of identity and the surreal, almost meditative quality found throughout her work. By using stark contrasts and clean geometry, the design becomes both a tribute and a reinterpretation – inviting viewers to imagine what such an exhibition might feel like in a Swiss art institution.
